aaaaawwww..my head is aching but it was payed off after i deleted that annoying pop up blocker, which happened to be the pop up source itself, thats been pestering my computer lately..
I got it last night when i was researching for our artapre class(and no its not what you think where i got it). I happened to visit a site where there is a movie about modern dancing but it says that i should first download a codec for it to run. I downloaded the said file and installed it. I tried opening the movie and again it propted me to download a codec. Startled and confused, i hitted the back button fuming and searched for another site.
Not knowing what i'd installed was a malicious software capable of spamming your desktops with different pop-ups. It was too late and a pop up window literally pops out of nowhere bearing ads like casinos, online-dates and stuff.. I also noticed that the system tray found at the lower right corner of your desktop beside the clock shows an unfamiliar icon that keeps on blinking and opens a little message in red text like "Your computer has a virus!! blah blah.. and you have a spyware installed on your computer".I was not at all suprised by the message, i know my computer was infected by a pop up program aka spyware or adware.
It really pisses me off whenever a pop up windows comes on flocking at my desktop. I tried closing the icons but it doest have a close option on it nor a menu of what will i do with it. It took me almost a night thinking of possible ways to delete it. I had manage to uninstall the codec but not the adware itself cause it was a different program. I tried looking up at the internet but all i found was offers of different spyware blocker. I dont want to DL(download) spyware blockers, free or not free, cause i have had a bad experience about it and i dont want it to happen with my computer. I gave up searching and lied on my bed bearing different thoughts of what to do with the cursed software. And before I slept i had finally thought of a bothersome but effective conclusion..REFORMAT!
Later that day after eating breakfast at around 10am(yeah, i still call it breakfast, late breakfast that is or just brunch..short for breakfast-lunch^^)I thought of borrowing an external hard disk from my friend to back up my "precious" including the "six gig" files before i reformat it. I again tried opening my computer hoping the icons would be gone, but to my disappointment its still there happily blinking like its provoking you or something of sort, making you really irritated with each blink and messages, really not a good sign to start a day. And then something flashes on my mind..
Since it is a running program i can detect the .exe file by just pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE and voila there you go a list of all curently running program. I scanned the list and found a bunch of new and odd programs which i think isnt supposed to be there. I searched the file and at last i found the culprit. It was right on one of the most important folder, system32. I easily found the 3 exe files but when i hitted delete it says cannot delete file cause its running..wtf??!! how am i supposed to delete it when its running and no matter how persistently i delete it during the ctrlaltdelete process it keeps on coming back right after i delete it?? you're right its internet to the rescue and later after a 2-hour "research" i finally bumped onto a software called DR. Delete.
Dr. Delete is capable of deleting program before it runs during the booting process by putting first the file to its database and when rebooted(restarted) all the files will be deleted. I sorted out the files in folder system32 by its date created and modified so that i can easily detect the latest file, the latest files consists of just logs. interestingly enough i found out that 4 files w/c is not a text file was created just last night when i installed the codec, although im not fully sure if its the actual malicious nevertheless, i took the risk and handed them all to Dr. Delete. I then rebooted the computer and waited for the windows to load crossfingered. Good thing nothing happended during the boot-up process. Then the loading was over and i saw the familiar backdrop. I immediately looked at the tray, ym was loaded, winamp, avg antivirus, zonealarm and rainlendar was seen. I waited a moment until every icon was loaded onto the tray. I still waited a minute or two watching at the tray for signs of unwanted icons...2 minutes was over and theres no sign of annoying icon on the tray.. Then at last peace was beggining to crowd my mind.
Alas!! its gone..I cant believe it!! there is no more pop up or the annoying red and yellow blinking icons or having the trouble of reformatting the computer..Sigh!! what a relief !! Thank God i finally removed the adware! All my efforts was paid off..haaaayYY!!! BUHAY!!!
And thats the story of how got rid of the annoying, no good, irritating spyware...and the moral is that dont download strange files from strange sites that you are not familiar of..specially porn sites hahaha!! just joking..
